🚍 National School Bus Safety Week: October 21-25, 2024 🚍
Clarendon County School District is proud to participate in National School Bus Safety Week! This week serves as a reminder for students, parents, and the community to stay alert and practice safe behaviors around school buses. Our top priority is ensuring the safety of all students as they travel to and from school.
Our staff are encouraged to participate in this week's activities alongside the Office of Transportation.
Here are a few important tips to keep in mind:
🛑 For Drivers:
• Stop for the School Bus: Always stop when a school bus is picking up or dropping off students. It’s the law!
• Stay Alert: Be cautious and watch for children crossing the road.
• Respect the Flashing Lights: Yellow flashing lights mean the bus is preparing to stop, while red flashing lights and an extended stop sign mean children are getting on or off the bus.
🚌 For Students:
• Arrive Early: Be at the bus stop at least 5 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive.
• Wait Safely: Stand at least 10 feet away from the curb and wait until the bus has come to a complete stop.
• Cross Safely: Always cross in front of the bus, making sure the driver can see you.
Let’s work together to keep our children safe on the roads. Thank you to our dedicated bus drivers for ensuring safe rides every day!
