F.E. DuBose Career Center Selected for Statewide Artificial Intelligence (AI) Pilot Program
Clarendon County, SC – April 15, 2025 — Clarendon County School District is proud to announce that F.E. DuBose Career Center has been selected as one of only a few schools and districts across South Carolina to participate in a groundbreaking Artificial Intelligence (AI) pilot program.
This innovative initiative, spearheaded by the South Carolina Department of Education, will allow students to explore real-world AI applications while fostering creativity, problem-solving, and future-ready skills through STEM-based learning. Schools across the state submitted competitive applications to join this forward-thinking program, and F.E. DuBose Career Center’s selection places Clarendon County School District at the forefront of AI education.
“Being selected for the AI pilot program reflects our district’s unwavering commitment to innovation and excellence,” said Dr. Shawn Johnson, Superintendent of Clarendon County School District. “This program not only prepares students for the jobs of tomorrow—it empowers them to be creators and leaders in a rapidly evolving global workforce.”
As part of the pilot, Mrs. Erica Wallace, a STEM instructor at F.E. DuBose Career Center, will undergo official training from the South Carolina Department of Education to implement the program in the 2025–2026 school year.
“It’s an honor to be part of this trailblazing initiative,” said Mrs. Wallace. “Artificial Intelligence is not just the future—it’s the present. This opportunity will help our students unlock new levels of creativity, innovation, and critical thinking.”
The program will be embedded into the district’s robust Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways, creating another opportunity for students to gain industry-relevant experience and explore career possibilities within advanced technologies.
“F.E. DuBose Career Center has always aimed to provide our students with high-impact, future-focused opportunities,” said Dr. Keisa Carr, Director of F.E. DuBose Career Center. “This pilot program allows us to expand our STEM offerings and keep our students competitive in the global tech landscape.”
With this initiative, Clarendon County School District continues to lead the way in preparing students for success in high-demand fields through innovation, equity, and vision. The pathway will begin in the Spring Semester of the 2025-2026 school year.
